Change.org is searching for a Head of Talent to own the vision, strategy, roadmap, goals, and systems that enable us to hire a diverse, high-performing team.
We’re looking for a recruiting expert who is an effective people manager & mentor, a strategic planner and thought partner, and a results-driven executor.
As a key member of our People & Talent team, you will report to our Chief People Officer. This is a fully remote role and you can be based in the United States or Canada.
Key outcomes:
- Develop and refine our overall recruiting strategy.
- Partner with senior leadership to define performance outcomes for the recruiting team and ensure the recruiting team is delivering on those goals.
- Support the recruiting team through upskilling, unblocking, elevating needs, and building a healthy culture.
- Design, implement and maintain scalable and equitable processes, tools, and systems necessary to support the recruiting function globally.
- Co-create and help build our employer brand.
The most important capabilities for the role are:
Leadership
- You are experienced in performance management and have a history of developing direct reports into exceptional performers.
- You build staff development systems such as growth plans, mentorship programs, and trainings.
- You create and reinforce a positive, engaged culture through traditions, team rituals and other cultural systems.
- You are an influential communicator and represent the team well in company-wide meetings and presentations.
- You build a culture of collaboration by initiating larger, inclusive, cross-team conversations about key aspects of recruitment.
Subject Matter Expertise
- You mentor and coach your team on their area expertise, regularly sharing best practices across a variety of functional roles.
- Your breadth and depth of practical experience in the talent field enables you to coach others in synthesizing company objectives with the candidate market.
- You are skilled at growing a pipeline of candidates with a variety of identities and you create best practice systems to promote and track DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) initiatives.
Strategic Planning
- You are a thought partner to senior leadership on overall talent strategy.
- You elicit feedback and consider the needs of cross-functional partners to inform your own team’s strategy and goals.
- You coach recruiters and hiring managers to break down strategic goals into measurable, component parts.
Ownership and Results
- You set OKRs (objectives and key results) and goals for your team and have a history of high performance.
- You execute both through individual contributor work and through influencing and coaching direct reports.
- You set standards of ownership and excellence, and intervene when results are falling short.
Target experience:
- 8+ years of hands-on recruiting experience, with at least a few years in product or engineering (tech) recruitment
- 3+ years of direct management experience (e.g. hiring, firing, performance reviews)

Our compensation philosophy is rooted in pay equity and transparency. Change.org is a global company and salaries are adjusted based on location and role level. For example, the salary for a Head of Talent hired at the senior director level in SF or NYC would be $227,500 USD. The director-level salary would be $205,000. Benefits include unlimited PTO (that you’re encouraged to use!), 100% company-paid healthcare options, and 18 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
