There are lots of amazing things about working as a global team, but managing a distributed team isn’t easy. Your role will be to help us maximize the benefits and mitigate the challenges. Help us make working at Oyster the best job of people’s careers by ensuring our team has great experiences both managing their teams and being managed by their leaders.
In this role, you will focus on supporting our managers so that they can support their teams. You will work with people of all skill levels, from first time managers to seasoned leaders, and help our nearly 70 people managers around the world build a consistent culture of enablement, trust, and togetherness.
What You’ll Do
- Create and implement a management support strategy that includes group training, 1:1 coaching, and peer mentorship, identifying key areas for individual improvement based on clear expectations and competencies
- Act as an internal coach for our people managers, on topics like:
- Creating an environment of psychological safety - how we behave with each other, how we show up for each other, how we model behavior
- Effective career coaching and performance management within a continuous feedback model
- Taking action based on learnings from engagement surveys (both qualitative and quantitative data), exit interviews, and other sources of feedback
- Supporting employees from diverse backgrounds, with differing work experiences, histories, and expectations
- Work closely with our People Operations and Learning teams to ensure we are creating resources for managers that are timely, effective, and relevant to our global organization
- Create a mission-oriented and values-driven environment that enables managers to elevate existing talent and help them be successful
- Socialize and celebrate our successes in growing an incredible team of people managers, both internally and externally
- Support the creation and implementation of programs and policies to improve the management and employee experience - this might include research, proposals, presentations, budgeting, and communications, and will likely vary by project (and be a team effort)
