Handshake is hiring a People Operations Lead reporting to the Head of People Programs, on the People Team. In this role you will work closely with our People, Talent teams and other internal stakeholders to coordinate and continuously improve our internal processes and systems, ultimately providing a world-class experience for all Handshake employees, interns and contractors.
You will have opportunities to take on projects to implement new systems, stand up new self-service resources, and have a tremendous impact on our people processes during a period of high growth.
Your Role:
- Act as a resource to the broader team by responding to general HR inquiries
- Execute on additional day-to-day People operations and tasks as needed
- As a member of the centralized team, participate in cross-functional projects with Recruiting, Payroll/Accounting, Finance, and other teams as we move to Workday
- Facilitate processes across the employee lifecycle (US and UK); including onboarding, employee movement, entering employment changes into our HR system, and partnering with our IT team to ensure access to tools is managed in a timely manner
- Own the onboarding and offboarding of Handshake contractors; including fielding requests for new contractors, drafting agreements, updating all data in our HRIS, managing all calendar invites
- Identify potential areas of improvement in our current processes; collaborate with teams to make our systems & processes even more scalable and seamless
- Document processes, procedures and programs relating to the employee lifecycle - conducting regular reviews around optimization and scalability
- Maintain and protect confidential data with great discretion, judgment, and professionalism
Your Experience:
- General understanding of employee life cycle and HR processes (maintaining employee data, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, people analytics, etc)
- Effective communicator and collaborator
- Comfort with ambiguity; proactive nature and bias towards action
- Superb organizational skills, with a focus on detail
- Positive, eager to learn, team player
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Bonus Areas of Expertise:
- Knowledge of HR systems, preferably Workday
- Understanding of relevant employment laws
- Experience in a rapidly growing startup or tech environment
Compensation
US $96,000-131,000
For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
