We are looking for a dynamic, passionate People Operations Manager to join the Venn team to help build our culture and improve our People Operations processes. This role will report directly to the Senior Vice President, People and will be the right hand to supporting the People Ops function from both a strategic and tactical standpoint.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to leverage their People/HR expertise in a fast-paced, nimble tech start-up and help build a best-in-class employee experience. This is a great opportunity to build your People Ops leadership in a tech start-up environment, as this role will have a great deal of latitude to own and build processes and functions. Prior tech experience is not required. The role is remote first; however, the ideal candidate can work from the hours of 9am – 6pm EST for their regular schedule. There may also be some required travel for meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Talent Acquisition
- Partner with SVP, People on Talent Forecasting and Planning
- Own overall standardized recruiting process and strategy for key roles
- Identify strategies to support recruiting efforts, including outsource options
- Act as recruiter for key internal roles
- Implement recruiting metrics and drive accountability around process
- HR Tech & Process Improvement
- Evaluate current state of HR tech stack
- Partner with SVP, People on Process Improvement Roadmap
- Bring a focus on continuous improvement to all People Ops Processes and Systems.
- Support People Ops Coordinator in administration of HR Data and Key Metrics reportion
- Total Rewards
- Support Annual Compensation Planning process and administration of compensation changes, including promotions
- Consult with managers on compensation questions
- Consult with team members and partner with benefits broker on Benefits questions
- Support Equity Administration in partnership with Finance; including updates in the Carta system
- Own internal administration of Annual Open Enrollment

- Implement ongoing engagement survey & action planning process using Culture Amp and other tools
- Build best-in-class new hire onboarding process
- Participate in and guide the Venn Culture Committee
- Talent Management & Development
- Own annual employee review process and implement improvements to drive performance and clarity of expectations in alignment with our business goals
- Support Manager Training & Best Practices for all Venn People Leaders
- Identify Key Skill gaps and create company Learning & Development Roadmap
- Support identification of external resources for specific development needs
- Partner with SVP, People in implementation of Talent Planning & Development process
- Work with Managers to address skill deficiencies and performance improvement plans
- Compliance & Employee Relations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable State/Local laws as related to Employment
- Conduct Audit of current practices and identify risks/opportunities for improvement
- Stay abreast of relevant changes in the legal/employment environment
- Support Immigration related processes with the support of Legal Counsel
- Address internal employee complaints and concerns in a timely and appropriate manner
- Oversee administration of Leave of Absences and Employee Accommodations.
Who we are looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in People Operations, Human Resources, or Recruiting (or some combination of those role)
- Degree in Business Administration, HR Management, or other related field of study (or commiserate experience)
- An HR Certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is preferred
- Prior people management experience preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexibility and determination to create structure where none exists without becoming discouraged by startup constraints
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in a remote work environment
- Strong desire and focus on continuous improvement
- Strong sense of ownership; driving initiatives from inception to completion
- Ability to collaborate with other functional leaders and executives
- Experience with our HR tech stack is a plus: Greenhouse, Flock, Paychex, Carta, Culture Amp
